A Waste Disposal Basin Bursts in Hungary

Company Name : Generic Source : Articles Base

The environmental protection has attracted more and more people's attention. The whole world has been developing various ways to deal with the pollution. Although great progress has been achieved, environmental problems can not be stopped. Recently, a waste disposal basin in Hungary has burst.

According to the local government, the water seepage in soil is a direct reason of accident. The accident has caused serious problems which can not only pollute the environment, but also affect the normal life of people.

The rough red muddy water has flowed into three towns and caused 9 deaths. The accident shows that the license of establishing the waste disposal basin should be issued by the environmental protection bureaus or disaster administration.

The basin in the accident was set up in 1940s, and it was just established on the ground without foundation. The muddy water which has flowed into the towns can seriously threaten the physical health of the human body. When the water has been dried, the particles can be absorbed by the human lung. Then the particles can enter the blood vessels to induce cancer. Therefore, it is necessary for the government to collect all the red mud in the towns.

The final way is to carry away the surface soil as thick as 20 to 30 centimeters and then plant willows. The willows can absorb the heavy metals in the soil and recover the ecological balance. The accident can not only cause the soil pollution, but also kill the most living beings in the rivers. In order to stop the toxic water flowing into the downstream rivers, the government decides to cast land plaster, nitrate of lime and acetic acid into the upstream rivers so as to decrease the PH value. However, the PH value can not be decreased excessively, or the heavy metals in the red mud can be dissolved in the water. Therefore, it is necessary for the government to decrease the PH value to a moderate level, which is rather difficult. It can be seen from the accident that it is necessary for people to set up the disposal basin in a scientific way so as to prevent the possible risks. The license of establishing the waste disposal basin should be issued by the professional environmental protection bureaus or disaster administration. After all, the government can not be professional in all the things and can not judge all the things wisely.
